Comparative Anaphora: comparing alternatives
DOI:
https://doi.org/10.3765/salt.v31i0.5091Abstract
A common assumption in degree semantics is that there is a functionargument
relationship betwen the comparative morpheme er and the overt standard.
Drawing on observations from comparatives without an overt standard, I argue for
reconsiderations of this assumption and offer a reanalysis of er, where it directly
compares to the alternative in the second dimension of meaning.
